【摘要】:Thispracticeisintendedforuseincollectingsamplesofcontaminatedsoilsandsimilarmaterials.Scoopsareusedprimarilyforcollectingsamplesnearthesurface.Subsurfacesamplescanbeobtainedbyfirstremovinghigherlayersusingashovelorothersuitableequipmentandcollectingthesamplewiththescoop.Becauseoftheirsimplicity,scoopsareusefulintakingsamplesofwastematerialswheredecontaminationordisposalisaproblemwithothertypesofsamplingequipment.Scoopsarealsosuitableforuseinrapidscreeningprograms,pilotstudies,andothersemi-quantitativeinvestigations.Samplesshouldbecollectedinaccordancewithanappropriateworkplan(seePracticeD5283andGuideD4687).1.1Thisprocedurecoversthemethodandequipmentusedtocollectsurfaceandnear-surfacesamplesofsoilsandphysicallysimilarmaterialsusingascoop.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
